AV Sensors is pleased to announce the release of our 5 PSI Absolute Silicon MEMS Sense Element, expanding our portfolio of high-performance, low-pressure sensing solutions. Designed for engineers who need exceptional resolution and long-term stability at very low absolute pressures, this new sense element delivers laboratory-grade performance in a compact, manufacturable MEMS platform.

Purpose-Built for Low Absolute Pressure
Measuring absolute pressure accurately below 10 PSI places unique demands on sensor architecture, diaphragm geometry, and signal integrity. Our new 5 PSI absolute sense element is engineered from the silicon up, featuring an optimized MEMS diaphragm and piezoresistive layout that maximizes sensitivity while maintaining excellent linearity and repeatability. The result is a true low-pressure absolute sensor that performs reliably providing a high level linear output.
Target Applications
The combination of low full-scale pressure and absolute reference makes this sense element particularly well suited for:
Medical devices: respiratory monitoring, anesthesia delivery, and diagnostic instrumentation
Analytical & laboratory equipment: barometric referencing, gas analysis, and vacuum-adjacent measurements
Industrial process control: low-pressure gas monitoring and sealed-system measurements
Environmental and altitude-related sensing: compact barometric subsystems
Now Available — 005PA Absolute Range Option
The new 5 PSI Absolute (005PA) silicon MEMS sense element is now released and may be seamlessly incorporated into any previously released AV Sensors pressure product series that supports absolute pressure configurations.
For existing designs released products, engineers can simply specify the 005PA pressure range value during part-number configuration to enable low-pressure absolute measurement using this newly released MEMS die. This approach preserves established footprints, packaging, and interface electronics while extending system capability down to true 5 PSI absolute operation.
The 005PA option is compatible with:
Analog voltage and amplified output series
Digital pressure platforms using I²C or SPI interfaces
Ceramic hybrid, PCB-based, and custom package formats
Temperature-compensated and fully calibrated modules
This backward-compatible release allows customers to upgrade performance, resolution, and low-pressure capability within qualified product families, accelerating design cycles and minimizing validation effort.
